根の堅洲国

根の堅洲国: ねのかたすくに【根の堅洲国】

古事記が構想した他界の一つ。素戔嗚尊(スサノオノミコト)が支配し，葦原中国(アシハラノナカツクニ)の国造りに間接的に関与する。大国主神(オオクニヌシノカミ)は，ここを訪れることで国土の王たる資格を獲得し，国造りを完成する。なお，出口を同じくするが「黄泉(ヨミ)の国」とは異質の世界で，日本書紀その他にみえる「根の国」とも異なるか。所在についても，従来考えられてきたように地底ではなく，葦原中国と同一面上にあるとも説かれる。
